Patients coming in to the ED exhibiting symptoms of possible toxicological causes should be carefully assessed to determine which substance or chemical is responsible for toxicity. In this week’s episode of the Nursing Show, toxicology specialist Liza Booze does another tox segment on toxic syndromes otherwise know as toxidromes. Toxidromes are collections of symptoms which as a whole is reflective of a substance causing it. The discussion includes the types of toxidromes commonly seen and the signs and symptoms defining each toxidrome. The show also includes news for nurses and links to this week’s tip for a more comprehensive review.
