This week on the Nursing Show podcast for nursing students and RNs, podcast host Jamie Davis provides a review on a common household medication, acetaminophen, more commonly known as Tylenol. Since this medication is over the counter and can be acquired without consulting a physician, nurses should be aware of the basic drug and dosing information including its interactions, contraindications, and side effects to be able to readily provide correct information to people that may have queries about this drug. Also included in the show are news for nurses and links to resources for follow up and a more intensive review.

After last week's episode focusing solely on education, our panel jumps back in to reviewing a few nursing articles from the week and we start off with a look at a University of Maryland School of Nursing study about nurse job satisfaction and magnet status of a hospital. Does a hospital's status and accreditation as a magnet facility necessarily mean that the nurses there are happier than other facilities? We ask that question of our panel.
Kim and Jamie delve into the topic of non-traditional conferences and Jamie announces the first ever nursing podcast listener cruise coming up in January. Visit NursingAtSea.com for details and booking information.
We also take a look at a nurse educator in Baltimore who is reaching out to see if simple nursing interventions can improve the lives of lower income elderly persons so they can live longer, healthier lives in their own homes. What are other nurses doing to impact their communities in such a direct and resourceful way?
On the panel this week:
Susan Bindon, MSN, RN-BC, Senior Consultant, Education Development, Lifebridge Health.
Kim McAllister, BSN, RN, Author of the Emergiblog and a regular panelist here at Insights.
and host Jamie Davis, the Podmedic, RN, NREMTP, BA, AAS managing director of the ProMed Network and host of the Nursing Show and MedicCast weekly programs.

This week I had a chance to do a one-on-one interview with student nurse blogger, Lovlei, author of the blog "The Dog Ate My Care Plan." She recently wrote a post on her blog about the challenges seen by some nursing students who are graduating and having difficulty finding work after nursing school.
I thought it would be a good opportunity to chat with her about how things look from her perspective as she is about a year off from her graduation date.
